The Development Committee met on October 8, 2016 in Washington, DC for the World Bank-IMF Annual Meeting. In the released communique, the Development Committee recognized the implementation of the Bank’s Climate Change Action Plan and expressed support to the countries’ nationally determined contribution (NDCs) under the Paris Agreement. It was cited in the communique that global economic growth remains at a slow pace in 2016 and demand continues to be low despite motivating changes in monetary policies. They urged the World Bank Group to continue to focus on building resilience while expanding insurance schemes and increasing investments in climate-smart land use, green infrastructure, and sustainable cities.
