Bangalore, India – The National Mission for Enhanced Energy Efficiency (NMEEE) is one of the eight missions under the Prime Minister’s National Action Plan for Climate Change. Perform-Achieve-Trade (PAT) is a major initiative within the NMEEE which seeks to reduce the energy intensity of large energy intensive industries. The Center for Study of Science, Technology and Policy (CSTEP) has conducted a study of the energy efficiency of the Indian cement industry which provides useful insights to industry stakeholders and policy regulators such as the Bureau of Energy Efficiency (BEE), Ministry of Power, Government of India. The study has focused on major elements which can contribute to an effective implementation of the PAT policy mechanism.
